One of my favorite romance tropes is the best friends who never realized they were in love. And I believe this is one of my favorite books to use it!
Garrett and Nina were so much fun! He was a dorky bestselling author and she was a nerdy game store manager who loved cosplay. They had adopted each other in school and never stopped being friends. I loved that I loved Nina so much because she was so different from my normal favorite heroines – at least externally.
One of my favorite moments in the story (okay – they were all favorite moments!) was when Nina acted on pure adrenaline doing something heroic (no spoilers here!) and afterward realized what she had done. And that was the moment Garrett realized she wasn’t just a friend.
I appreciated so much that the author made it clear Garrett knew he couldn’t pursue a relationship with Nina beyond friendship because she didn’t have a relationship with the Lord.
Yes, I know Christmas has just barely passed. But if you consider this is a story that just happens to take place at Christmas, it is perfectly appropriate to read any time of the year.
I’m so excited to have seen a review for this book which inspired me to pick it up! Jaycee Weaver is a new author for me but you can expect to see more reviews for her here as I plan on reading many more of her books!
