Quirky Cat

Black Badge has proven to be more intriguing and intense than I was anticipating, and I couldn’t be happier about that. I love the unique twist they’ve taken here; the spin on boy scouts rushing off to earn their wholesome badges. Because that certainly isn’t what is happening here. Sure, they may want it to look like that’s what they’re doing, but the truth is so much darker than that.
There was less character development in this issue, or at least that was how it felt to me. We got to know some backstory for a couple of the guys, but that was it. Though there was more going on with the plot, and less time to chatting, so that makes sense.
I’ll admit that I’m not really sure where this plot is going to end up, in the long run. I do have a very strong sense of foreshadowing, so obviously I feel like something is going to happen…I’m just not sure what. Regardless, my curiously has been piqued, so I have to see this one through. I can’t wait to see where it goes from here.
The artwork for this series has been amazing. It actually looks exactly like what I’d picture an old fashioned Boy Scout guide to look like, stylistically speaking. The color palette compliments the style perfect, and on the whole everything just blends really nicely. So far I haven’t had any trouble identifying each of the characters, or with getting any of them mixed up. I can be a bit forgetful at times, so this is a major bonus in my book.
