Before I even read this issue, I found myself feeling very scared. You see, Kelly Thompson (the fantastic writer for this series) felt the need to apologize for how the issue ended off…before the comics even hit the shelves (well, digital catalog in this case). Um. That sounded like either a cliffhanger or something really awful was heading this way.
Turns out, it’s a bit of both. But I should have expected that. Like the last two issues, this one was split in half. The first half finished the plot that we’ve been reading lately. I loved the conclusion – there were several funny and serious points in it.
The second half started a new plot. At first look it was lighter and sillier. But then it got…intense. I love that they actually had a serious moment to talk about trauma, PTSD, and that it’s okay to admit when you’re feeling vulnerable. And then that conclusion hit us. Oh my god. I can see why Thompson felt compelled to apologize in advance. I very well may go crazy before the next issue drops.
