I loved how none of the characters from other worlds seemed to automatically know or speak English. Once they got to the school, they were given earrings that reminded me a bit of the fish from the Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy series. And the earring allowed them to understand each other.
I also liked learning a bit about Lisa's classes, and finding out who Mrs. Gale is. The bad guy of the book wasn't obvious, at least to me. I was thinking it was a completely different character until the very end. Which is always a huge plus!
It doesn't seem to be a series, at least not from what I could find. Which is sad, because if there were more books I would buy them. This book covers Lisa's first year at the school, and mostly wraps things up at the end with only a few loose threads. So as a stand-alone it isn't bad. I just kinda want to read more.
If you enjoy books about magical schools, you should try this book.
