I really liked "The Housewife and the Film Star" from Doris O'Connor. In fact, I liked it more than I expected I would. The characters were great. Sylvia and Sven had a chemistry that just worked for me. There was lust, mistrust, more lust, and then a nicely paced love story.
Sven is a very famous movie star, and Sylvia is a mother to three children who loves her family more than anything. The meet up in a strange circumstance and are intrigued by each other. What happens after that is a well written story about two people who have experienced A LOT of pain in their lives, and how they can find happiness in each other's arms.
This book is very sexy with some light BDSM. There is some impact play and some restraint, but it's not overwhelming. I was somewhat...maybe disturbed is the word...by one particular scene, but I talked with some people, and after that, I felt better about it. I fell completely in love with Sven. He was sweet and caring with an edge. He was ornery, and he had a great sense of humor. Sylvia is a strong woman who overcame a terrible situation to build a life with her children.
I enjoyed "The Housewife and the Film Star", and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a sexy love story that has some angst thrown in. It's a quick read, but all in all, you'll be satisfied by it.
