I read "We Need Him" part one and liked it very much. Sure, there was a cliffhanger, but I was satisfied thinking that all would be well at the end of part two. When I find a new author whose work I enjoy, I like to look them up on Amazon or Goodreads to see if they've got any other books out there that I might like to pick up. Anyway, long story short, I discovered that part two was NOT going to be the end. Turns out that Sage Mattison (who is very talented, by the way) has a lengthy series planned for our lovely triade...plus holiday shorts. I was taken aback and did a little freak out when I realized that I wasn't going to get an HEA at the end of this one. So, I had to step away for a few days. It's not that I was angry. I wasn't, but in book one, I'd become emtionally attached to Brett, Jake, and Jamie. I wanted everything to neatly wrap up for them. I think that they're one of the best triads I've come across in a long time.
With a series, I like to wait until all of the books are available before I read it. I am a big fan of instant gratification. I've got zero patience when I'm excited about a story. I want everything...NOW! As I mentioned in my review of part one, the three main characters have incredible chemistry. Seriously...lightning shot out of my Kindle. They have extremely hot sex...whether it's just Jake and Jamie, or when Brett joins in. It's not just sex for sex's sake, though. Those scenes bring the whole thing together. This is a fledgling relationship, and each of the three have some issues that need to be dealt with...especially Brett. I feel really connected to him, and my heart goes out to him when he finally comes clean, and here is what I love. Jake and Jamie have absolutely no trouble accepting him for what he is. It's angsty. It's heartwarming. It's just so damn loving!
Now that I'm fully invested, I feel like I'm going to tear my hair out. Book three became available two days ago, but now I'm not sure if I'm going to one click quite yet. I'm sure if I do, my stomach will be in knots at the end of that because I won't be able to jump into a part four right away. I'm giving serious consideration to waiting until the series is complete. It would probably save my sanity. Still...I'm not quite married to that decision.
Do I recommend this book? Yes! From what I've read so far, I can tell you that this will be a great series. If you have an iron constitution and can relax between waits, give Brett, Jake, and Jamie a chance. They won't let you down.
