I quite enjoyed Heir Untamed. Despite two men being mentioned in the description and vying after Chey's attention, there really isn't a love triangle at play. I don't want to say who she chooses, but one man does become more of a friend during her time at the castle, while the other becomes her lover. There's also a great twist that I never saw coming! It might be obvious to others, but I never guessed! And I liked it!
My one problem with Heir Untamed was with the mystery portion. There's an assassination attempt early on in Chey's time in Latvala, and they never catch this person. I found that a bit hard to believe since this is the royal family and they have security everywhere! Then someone attacks Chey and tries to scare her away. I did figure out who was the mastermind behind this and their accomplice. The reason is super obvious too, but it's never said why that person helped them. Something about secrets is briefly mentioned, but I want to know what secrets?! Why would they do this for them!?
Other than the disappointing conclusion to the mystery, I really liked Heir Untamed. It was different than other romances I've read previously. I definitely like how the actual romance worked out, since I wasn't expecting it. There are also some really awkward sentences scattered throughout. It was almost like the author was trying to make her writing more interesting, but it just didn't work out. That aside, this was an enjoyable read. And taking a look at the next book's description, it continues Chey's story, so perhaps those secrets will be unveiled in time!
