The airborne troops of the French Army, the subject of this first volume, witnessed an enormous growth during the Indo-China war. Eric Adam and Patrice Pivetta present in meticulous detail descriptions of the uniforms of the paratroopers in Algeria as well as profiles of their badges, the famous red beret, the parachutes, drop material, and weaponry. Also included is a chapter on the commandos, an under researched subject until now.

In terms of uniforms and equipment, this period is characterised by a certain homogeneity, despite the unique details of certain regiments.

Profiles of those soldiers whose uniforms are particularly unique are represented by 25 colour representations. Each profile includes detailed maps, colour photos, and a selection of black and white images. The authors have accumulated a significant number of collectors’items.
