This is the first adaptation of this successful textbook especially for students in Hong Kong. It has been revised by an experienced team of lecturers and accounting educationalists based in Hong Kong after extensive market research. The major changes are simplification of the language for readers whose first language is not English, and the addition of Cantonese translations of key accounting terms. In addition, names of businesses and individuals used to illustrate examples, business and accounting practices and terminology, and currency denominations, have been changed into a Hong Kong context to make the book more relevant for Hong Kong readers. In general the substantive differences between this volume and the UK edition are minor, and involve deletion of those chapters that are only of relevance in the UK, i.e. Value Added Tax and Employees' Pay. The chapter Introduction to Accounting Ratios has now been placed as the first chapter in Part 8 - An Introduction to Financial Analysis. Partnership accounts is now treated in full in Volume 1 by the inclusion of partnership dissolution.
Questions from Hong Kong examining bodies such as the LCCI Levels 1 and 2, HKAAT Level 1, HK A-Level, HK Institute of Bankers and HK Institute of Company Secretaries, have been included.
