A Kate Kinsella Mystery The unheralded arrival of a new client causes Kate to pause before agreeing to take on the case. The investigation surrounds the death of surgeon Rupert Decker-White at a New Year party at Fair Acres Private Hospital. His widow is convinced that he was murdered by deliberately being given a peanut to which he was known to be severely allergic. When Hubert reveals some surprising plans, Kate decides she needs time on her own and agrees to work undercover at the hospital as a nursing assistant. It soon becomes obvious that any information she does acquire will be based on gossip and innuendo. Kate hears of a previous so called accidental death, but forced to take a few days off with an injury, Kate returns to work and the realization that the drink and drugs culture pervading the hospital is probably linked to all three deaths. With a seemingly inefficient police force and hardly any help from her boyfriend DI Todman, Kate is without an ally on the premises.
