Frequent marijuana use is associated with a syndrome characterized by apathy, decreased attention span, poor judgment, diminished capacity to carry out long-term plans, social withdrawal, and a preoccupation with acquiring marijuana (Cohen, 1980, 1981; Schwartz, 1987).
