  • In 1905 Edwin Arnold created a character that many feel changed the course
of Science Fiction and that character's name was Lt. Gullivar Jones. Though its
reception was lukewarm at the time of its publication, Arnold's tale of
Gullivar's journey to mars and falling in love with a Martian princess is
thought by many to have inspired the Martian tales of Edgar Rice Burroughs,
written some six years later. Dynamite Entertainment is proud to bring these
characters together, telling the story of their first meeting!
  • The time is post Civil War America. Lt. Gullivar Jones, a distinguished Navy
officer, is tired of not receiving the promotion he feels he deserves and
desperately needs to be able to marry his fiance. While sulking through the
streets of New York, Gullivar encounters an aged man and a strange carpet that
appears to have originated in the far east. Little does he know that this carpet
will become the vehicle that will transport him not only through space but time
as well, as he is hurtled into the past, present, and future of John Carter's
Barsoom. In the past, Gullivar meets the beautiful Princess Heru, a mysterious
Red Woman whose secrets lead him directly to Barsoom's present, where he forges
an uneasy alliance with the Warlord of Mars John Carter and his beloved wife
Dejah Thoris, all before hurtling into the future where Barsoom faces a threat
unlike any it has known before!
