"Mosby's Handbook of Patient Teaching, Second Edition", is a unique and comprehensive handbook of information for patient teaching. Approximately 175 of the most common diseases, disorders, and treatments are presented in alphabetical order for quick reference and ease of use. An outline format provides the definition, a listing of signs and symptoms, complications, diagnostic tests, and treatment. An extensive section on home care accompanies each entry. The revision focuses on updating content throughout, particularly in the diagnostic and treatment sections. There is an emphasis on patient education, as it relates to discharge and home care. The patient audience is adult, but key issues for special populations, i.e. geriatric patients, are highlighted. The second color helps to highlight important warning signs. A new feature for this edition is the Nursing Procedures section, which contains 25 procedures with detailed instructions on how to perform the procedure in the home. Patient resources have also been updated to include web URLs and descriptions of Web sites. The content is presented in an easy-to-read format, using short phrases and sentences.
A two-color design allows for highlighting of important information and colored letter bleed tabs provide a tool for quick access.
