This volume recounts the events surrounding the siege of Jerusalem which led to the founding of the modern state of Israel. Hannah Hurnard, author of "Hinds' Feet on High Places", was for many years resident in Israel, where she worked with the Churches' Ministry Among the Jews. She came to be accepted in the Holy Land as few Westerners ever are. The book examines the dramatic events in 1948, as the Jews struggled with the Arabs for mastery of Palestine and, in particular, Jerusalem. The establishment of a new Jewish state in Israel was for many the fulfilment of biblical prophecies concerning the return of the people of God to the land of God, and Hannah was there at the centre of these events.
