This work features essays by Yilmaz Dziewior, Janneke de Vries, Scott Rothkopf, and Daniel Baumann. The New York-based artist, Wade Guyton creates minimalist paintings and sculptures, exploring the repertoire of form in Modernism. He prints computer-designed, simple geometric patterns with a conventional inkjet printer onto large canvases, or he destructs design classics into abstract sculptures whose origins can only be guessed. Due to the incompatibility of material and technology, constitutive errors of formal and semantic significance are generated. Smudges and smears, sometimes hardly discernible and outside the artist's control, mar the formal surface elegance of these reduced works and imply a painterly gesture.
