On 25th August 2010 at 6.31 am I was raped by a 20 year old monster. He beat me, kicked me, strangled me and threw me against the walls of my bedroom. My body froze in terror but as he repeatedly raped me and sunk his teeth into my genitals, I somehow found the strength to kick him off . Covered in blood, I ran from this living nightmare as fast as I could, carrying my new puppy. With help from friends, I managed to call the police and report the monster but had to wait a year for the case to get to Crown Court. My physical injuries got better and the scars eventually healed. I had plastic surgery on my face and appeared normal on the outside. However, the events of that day have left me with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder with which I have now learned to live and I say to myself every day; 'What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger'. I have described the events in graphic detail in this book, not to shock but in the hope it will help the reader understand the issues all victims of rape have to endure.
I also hope that it will help politicians and those delivering justice in the courts that issuing lenient sentences does nothing to protect the vulnerable who have to live forever with the consequences while the perpetrators are often allowed to simply get on with their lives.
