Quirky Cat
I received a copy of When Sharks Attack With Kindness in exchange for a fair and honest review.
When Sharks Attack With Kindness is probably the most endearing graphic novel I've seen out there. And really, there's no better time for this release than following the events of 2020.
Written and illustrated by Andrews J. Colmenares, When Sharks Attack With Kindness is a collection of sweet, funny, and cute comics. The cast of characters are of the fishy variety – and I mean that literally.
Sharks, fish, turtles, eels, jellyfish, and many other creatures that live in the ocean interact in this collection, and virtually every story has a kind focus. Hence the title of this graphic novel. It's an uplifting read, and one that will guarantee to bring a smile to your face.
I'll confess that I haven't read much of the comic that Andres J. Colmenares is famous for – Wawawiwa Comics – though I have seen it around (all over the place, really). So I didn't have a whole lot of expectations going into this. Yet I was still blown away, having a blast and a half reading it.
It did an excellent job of lifting my spirits, and bringing a smile to my face on multiple occasions. I have no doubt that this is a book I'd happily pick up any time that I was feeling down, because I know that it would help me out. Just like the characters portrayed would.
The artwork is fun and light – just like the stories themselves. Simple but boldly colored backdrops set the scene, while adorable sea critters take center stage. It's a perfect combination, and made When Sharks Attack With Kindness all the more memorable.
