That's one of the main things I really love about this series. Even though there's romance and sex and a ton of humour- there's a lot of plot and while each book can be read standalone - reading them in order lets the plot build into something special. Actually it's kind of like Laura Kaye's Hard Ink series insofar as the plot running through each book. I like the whole jigsaw puzzle being put together as each book is released.
What can I say? I love a good hero as a villain in disguise. And Croaker delivered.
The third novella in the series, Hot as Hell follows bad guy Sam Croaker and former Interpol agent and new SSI member, Dawn Wilson. Unlike the previous books, Croaker and Dawn were introduced in the last novel. I mean the romance still happens instantly but they have a least a slight build up.
Dawn was awesome. As bad ass as Keely for sure. And Croaker was a total sweetie. The chemistry between them was off the charts. It was fantastic. I loved the friendship between Dawn and Keely and the way they worked together to take down the bad guys before their men got home. The action is as intense as per usual - this novella wraps up the DOD traitor storyline which was cool. I enjoyed finally knowing the traitor gets his just desserts. I can't wait to see where this series goes next.
