There are many ways to treat and prevent carpal tunnel symptons. Some patients use wrist braces or splits to help keep their wrists straight. Others use steroid injections to reduce the swelling around the median nerve. In severe cases, some doctors recommend surgery. This involves cutting certain areas along the wrist and palm. While this can be effective, the possibility of permanent scarring is fairly high, and any mistakes can mean permanent nerve damage as well.
