Twelve-year-old Kirsty Hagen is still working for Lucy at the ranch while her best friend Faye Marsh is out show-jumping as a professional rider. When Lucy asks Kirsty to help with a cattle round-up, she agrees, even though she's nervous. Her round-up partner is fourteen-year-old Jesse, who treats her like an idiot and even makes fun of her pony, Lancelot. Soon she's steaming mad, and Jesse has disappeared.
