This information book focuses on a child's day in a French primary school, in a village in Eastern France. The school normally opens its door at 8:20. There's usually a two-hour break for lunch (11:30-13:30). Pupils can either go home or go to the canteen. They do not eat a packed lunch in class. From the end of lessons at 15:45 to 17:00, teachers or teaching assistants look after the children who take part in activities (this is called TAP: temps d'activites periscolaires) which are different in each school. They range from sports to artistic games and activities, like golf, climbing, sailing, woodwork, music lessons, etc. On Wednesdays, schools are normally open 8:20 - 11:30 only.Pupils can easily and quickly read this short, attractive, highly-illustrated French book for a sense of enjoyment and achievement. The book can be used to introduce children to reading in French and help them to improve their reading skills. It strongly supports Intercultural Understanding by making a point of revealing, via the texts and the pictures, various cultural aspects of life in France or French-speaking countries. This book is one of six Brilliant French Information Books at Level 2.
