Bill Viola ia a leading artist working in video and sound installations. Born in 1951, Viola began working with film and electronic sound as a student in the early 1970s . For the last 25 years, he has used innovative multi-media technologies to explore the phenomena of sense perception as a language of the body and avenue of self-knowledge. In his work, Viola has integrated many discliplines and philosophies to present a broad view of contemporary art's relevance to the modern world, a view which has roots in the history of both Western and Eastern art.
