This information-based resourcebook has been produced by members past and present of CanTeen NZ - the national network supporting the more than 1500 13-24 year-old New Zealanders currently diagnosed with cancer. Presented in a fresh, colourful format and using language that is engaging and easily accessible, the book imparts practical advice to adolescents living with the disease, and to their peers. Divided into three sections ('Understanding', 'Living With' and 'Moving Beyond'), the book specifically addresses the emotional effects of diagnosis, preparing for cancer therapy, tips on hospital stays, strategies for coping mentally, help with everyday life such as school, relationships with friends and parents and maintaining hobbies. Original photography, case studies and poetry are included from CanTeen members, along with a full glossary, a directory of recommended reading material, and other national organisations committed to empowering adolescents and their loved ones living their lives with cancer.
