South African wildlife photographer, Adrian Bailey, has spent his entire working career to date documenting the desert, delta and Savannah ecosystems of Africa. After 10 years of field work he decided to publish a monograph of his best images from that time. This is a photographic portfolio of the wildlife he has come to know intimately during the course of his work. It must be stressed though, that this is not just another collection of African wildlife images gathered over a few months by an itinerant photographer on safari. Rather, as can be seen, this is a refreshingly different, dynamic collection of photography exposing the entire spectrum of life on this ancient stage, garnered from over 20 000 hours of fieldwork. All Bailey's best, award-winning images were made available to the project. The portfolio is presented as a hypothetical day in wild Africa. Each chapter is a collection of images revealing the slow unfolding and closing of the African day, organised under the headings Dawn, Day, Dusk and Night. In addition to a collection of outstanding stand-alone images, there is a series of mini-stories (e.g. migrations, dramatic kills, vital waterholes, etc.)
, each gathered from different locations.
