The purpose of this book is to explain the political motivation for industrialization and why this leads to irreconcilable international trade conflicts. The book argues that the real causes of intenational trade disputes in manufacturing hinge on the division of the international political system into competitive nation states. The insecurity of existence in the international political system prompts latecomer countries to pursue the goal of industrial transformation; military security, on which the distribution of power and the status of countries are predicated, is heavily dependent on the level of industrialization.
