The great horned owlet is warm and cozy alongside his two sisters and their mother. But the little ones grow so fat and fluffy that, before long, their mother is squeezed right out of their nest in the tree. While his mother cares for him and his father brings all his meals, the owlet soon feels too crowded himself, so he leaves the nest. But despite his size, the owlet still cannot fly. He must struggle to find a safe perch near the nest where he can wait for his meals and practice flapping his wings. One day he'll be ready to hunt and find a home of his own.
