The MiG-15 is one of the most important jet fighters of all time. Technically brilliant, with an improved version of a British jet engine design, it was an unpleasant surprise for the American and British forces when it burst into the Korean war. The MiG-15 was a fantastic original design, exploiting the British engine in a way no British design came close to matching. MiG is an acronym which stands for Artem Ivanovich Mikoyan and Mikhail Iossopovich Gurievitch, two Russian aircraft designers who first worked together in 1938 and whose achievements would become world-famous in the post-war world.
