In the late 1990s, new media have ushered in new categories of crime that the modern world has yet to address fully: cyberstalking; e-commerce fraud; online discussion forums for hate groups; and children exposed to pornography on the Internet. In this collection, scholars from the UK and the US consider these new crimes and their relationship to the new media. They look at how far new technology is shaping and redefining crime, its natures, management and detection, examining to what extent criminals are simply adapting familiar techniques to new media. The contributors draw conclusions about the possibility of virtual criminology in the 21st century.
