Ned Sherrin qualified as a barrister but has since been a producer, director and presenter for TV, film, theatre and radio. Among his many credits are "That Was the Week That Was" and the film of "Up Pompeii". He more recently directed the theatre productions of "Side by Side" by Sondheim and "Jeffrey Bernard is Unwell", and he hosts Radio 4's Loose Ends each week. Drawing on his unparalleled knowledge of public life and private moments, this book is a collection of classic stories replete with repartee, banter, put-downs, gates and good humour from the worlds of royalty, politics, literature, music and food not forgetting the theatre, of course.
