A guide to the western part of southern France, from the Rhone to the border of Roussillon, and northwards to the edge of the Massif Central. This area is often undervalued by those heading for Provence, but has much to offer. The Cevennes National Park covers much lower, more accessible mountains than France's alpine parks. The limestone causses are one of the wonders of France, split by beautiful gorges, the Tarn being the most famous. There are lovely villages - including St Guilhelm-le-Desert - and towns such as Carcassone. Monpellier is one of France's most exciting cities. Here too are the castles of the Cathars. This volume features colour photographs and maps of the area.
