The programming language Lisp is used extensively, particularly in artificial intelligence applications. This work gives an overview of the language and its current state of implementation. Emphasis is placed upon hardware support, and on parallel Lisp dialects for multiprocessor systems, and for this BaLinda Lisp is used as an example.
