The Cardinal's Hat, A Novel, written by Barbara O'Sullivan, and published in the USA in 2015, is based on the history of Sir Walter Raleigh and tells the story of Raleigh and some of the well known dramatists and prominent people of the Elizabethan age.

The memory of Raleigh's achievements, like those of Charles Dickens, author, have become legendary throughout the world. Raleigh would have left more of his literature for the world to enjoy, except that his History of the World was withdrawn from publication, and so he burned his second volume of his History of the World before the eyes of his publisher, Master Burre, at The Bloody Tower, Tower of London before his execution for Treason in 1618.
