Through conversations with six immigrant women, and the stories of their lives, "From All Corners" explores the nature of multicultural Australia and of the migrant experience. The six women whose life stories are recorded here have interesting tales to tell and are told partly through the author's words, and partly through the subject's own. The women came to Australia from Italy, England, Central Europe and Vietnam, and their experiences here reflect a good deal on the nature of their adoptive society. In the process of recounting the stories of the women's immigrant lives, Anne Henderson questions the myths and misconceptions about multiculturalism in Australia. She argues that a homogeneous culture, even if desirable, has never existed and could never exist in Australia. Anne Henderson is Deputy Director of the Sydney Institute and Editor of "The Sydney Papers".
