Tatting has been around for at least 200 years. Over that time there have been waves of enthusiasm for the craft around the world, each wave building on the interest generated by earlier ones. There have been developments and evolution in style, techniques and processes. Tatting is now practised universally and, as a result, a rich terminology has developed and a whole vocabulary has grown up, leading sometimes to confusion. Tatting vocabulary has also greatly increased recently with the Internet and with the appearance of many new tatting books. This book is a comprehensive dictionary of all tatting terms, which clarifies the confusions that have arisen around particular terms. This dictionary also broadens our appreciation of the origins of tatting by adding many historical notes.
