Deon and Gwala is a lighthearted work of fiction intended to put a smile on the readers face. It is an account of the shenanigans of two men, Mr. Deon Smith, a middle-aged Mixed-African (Coloured), and Mr. Gwala Dlamini, a Zulu, also in his prime. They are members of the community of Brentwood. Both men are married; have two children each and have cultivated a special bond of friendship over the years. Besides the lives of these men, special emphasis is placed on the adventures of their children, particularly Brian, Deon's son who has a personality peculiar to his or any generation. The jocular Deon and Gwala and other characters take the reader on a reckless, uproarious journey. Despite the casual nature of the book, care is taken to highlight the pervading social ills that plague the community of Brentwood and the consequences of the same. A light read.
