This book aims to provide all the support needed for the GSCE French candidate. More than 150 original texts, illustrations and documents, drawn from a wide variety of sources, reflect the GCSE and National Criteria principles to promote practical and effective communication, on a variety of topics and at Basic or Higher levels. The contents of the book provide teaching materials on the prescribed topics set by the examining boards, practice tasks, notes, example, structures and grammar, GSCE style questions and answers and differentiated vocabulary lists. Texts and tasks are graded to enable candidates to acquire competence through practice at Basic level first and from there to move on to Higher level tasks, in all the four skills (Speaking, Listening, Reading, Writing). A unique feature of the book is the Starter Kit. This section identifies the key "notions" and "functions", listed by the examining boards and central to the achievement of effective communication. The Starter Kit also provides examples and practice tasks, so that candidates can gain confidence and develop expertise in making statments and asking questions, particularly in role-play and conversational situations.
