I am getting into comics. Maybe I will just call this a comic review blog. I had difficulty concentrating due to not having the appropriate energy. So I decided to read this from Hoopla. My first impression was not that great. I looked at the artwork and was like meh, but it had good reviews, so I started reading, and by the second issue, I was blown away.
I understood that it was meant to give a campy old timey feel with a sort of space/alien thingie thrown in. I am a sucker for anything spacey, so when the aliens showed up, I was all I for this series. I am deaf, and I did not hear the sounds growing up, so that had English half whatever threw me off a little. Had to ask m mom to translate it into American Standard English. Heh oh well but other than that I loved the story line and the plot...mostly. The part I understood that is.
The book jumps right into the story line with almost no back story, so I felt like I was missing something. Then came the human-like aliens on flying dragons..ok. Can live with that. Then came the horribly disfigured dudes from the future with the Apple guy being the evil Grandfather? I am not sure. I know I could wrap my mind around it if I was stoned but it is illegal here in da hillz. I saw the machine on the disfigured teenagers and y'all know I have a machine stuck on me so that kinda pissed me off a little. I was like ya know SOME THINGS ARE GOOD!. Then there was the time travel. I was like umm so are we in the future or are we back in time now? My tiny little sober mind could not handle it.

Anyway, after I got through all the issues, I sat and tried to make my sober brain comprehend the what I know are some deep metaphors in this comic. I failed. I think everyone was stoned when they made this comic, and now I am totally making books that should be read stoned bookshelf on Goodreads. I am intrigued enough to continue the series. I hope it all comes together in Vol 2 in a way that sober people can wrap their tiny little minds around. I would recommend this to people..but you gotta bend your mind in ways that you normally wouldn't or it is probably best read along with a big bowl of Jamaican weed. coughsThis review was originally posted on Adventures in Never Never Land
