Agnes Smedley was a journalist, feminist and political activist whose radical awakening occurred in the coal fields of Colorado at the turn of the century. From here she moved to New York, and then to Weimar Germany, Stalinist Russia and to China in the throes of revolution in the 1930s. This biography provides an account of her political and personal life.
