Berenice Abbott's Changing New York project, circa 1939, created a majestic documentation of Manhattan and the surrounding boroughs. Since 1997, Douglas Levere has been returning to the original sites with the identical camera Abbott used, an 8X10 Century Universal, shooting those sites at the same time of day and year. The resulting images show the city's evolution over 65 years. With a preface by the author and an introduction by Bonnie Yochelson (consulting curator and former Curator of Prints and Photographs, Museum of the City of New York and editor of Berenice Abbott: Changing New York)
