Five crucial themes in current world affairs - international co-operation, war, communism, Fascism and democracy, nationalism and human rights are covered in this study, through 25 in-depth case studies which focus on particular facets and look closely at the issues and events surrounding them. A focus question and introduction open each case study, which is followed by a group of sources chosen to explain issues raised in the introduction. The sources are drawn from a wide range of material, such as eye-witness accounts, diplomatic documents, speeches, memoirs and newspaper articles. Visual sources include diagrams, photographs, graphs, cartoons, maps and posters. Directly related to GCSE Modern World History syllabuses, there are ideas for discussion, aiming to help students both to investigate these issues and guide them in the use of source material.
