This series of Mathematics assessment activities has been specially developed to underpin Teacher Assessment and to provide a supportive structure for formative assessment throughout the infants and lower junior stages. It provides a resource bank of straightforward assessment tasks focused specifically on the National Curriculum statements of attainment (SoAs) and corresponding programmes of study, and gives practical guidance on the interpretation of both the SoAs and the assessment outcomes. Extension ideas also allow the teacher to present and develop the assessment tasks as good Mathematics teaching activities in their own right. Where appropriate, activity sheets are provided as photocopy masters, within the handbook. Each task facilitates quick, yet meaningful assessment of individual children working alone or in small groups, and is designed to integrate flexibly, as required, with normal classroom practice and activities. There are also full notes on how to use, record and interpret these assessments in the context of a formative record covering the full range of on-going Teacher Assessment in Mathematics.
