During the 1970s, a black power organization in Bermuda conspired to bring about social change 'by any means necessary', including assassination. As a result, Governor Sir Richard Sharples was murdered, as well as Police Chief George Duckett and others. This investigative book is based on interviews with police officers involved in the investigations, as well as interviews with prison officers familiar with the assassins. Additional material was gleaned from Scotland Yard murder files, newspaper archives, court records, and an interview with the widow of Sharples. This is the first full account of the murders and the Black Beret Cadre, the revolutionary group whose activities resulted in mayhem throughout the island.
