This book provides a contemporary and international analysis of how academic staff in universities are currently managed. It reviews recent developments in higher education policy in fifteen selected countries and examines their impacts on the academic profession. Whilst rates of change differ, the massifying, marketizing and managerializing of higher education are universal, international phenomena.
