The skeleton of a teenage girl is found under the patio of a North London house. Forensic tests show that it dates back to the time when the house was used as a B & B. Superintendent Mike Walker is assigned to investigate, but is unhappy about working on a low profile case, especially with the ex-boyfriend of his current partner, Pat North.North, on her swift climb up the career ladder, is now working on a Met police scoping team but although managing to perform admirably at work, she is suffering the mental and physical effects of losing her baby.
