PULSE (an acronym for People Using Light, Sound, Energy) explores the phenomenon of art and technology, both high and low, in an attempt to show how artists incorporate technology to achieve a statement transcending that technology. The parallel developments of Cubism's fractured space and Einstein's theory of relativity in the early twentieth century were only the first among many bases for the artistic exploration of this nature.

In recent years, artistic interest in light, sound, and motion technology has strongly revived after a lull in the 1970s, and PULSE II examines the strengths of the current movement. Included are examples of participatory machines, multimedia projections, video, performance, experiments in light sculpture and ambient sound, and computer-based works.
