In "When I Meet God", Ann Bell presents two simple and convincing essays, which argue for the return of traditional Christian values in a world that is rapidly losing its grip on the spiritual dimension in favour of materialism and individualism. "When I Meet God" ventures to suggest ways in which men and women can once again find spiritual solace and fulfilment by turning wholeheartedly to God, his Son and his Mother, Mary. The message is disarmingly straightforward: the essence of the Christian creed lies in the Incarnation and birth of Jesus from the Virgin Mother's womb. Bell also argues that far from emancipating women, the feminist movement, in its promotion of equal rights, has denied them the unique and endlessly rewarding experience of motherhood. This argument is then persuasively extended to embrace modern culture as a whole, and tease out why it is that so many people feel disenchanted, empty and without purpose.
