This work discusses the biology of adaptation at the molecular, cellular and system level in response to a variety of stressful conditions. The therapeutic of the understanding of the science of adaptation has also been described in several chapters. Examples of cross adaptations are provided, where repeated exposure to one stimulus may have applications in the treatment and prophylaxis of different diseases.
