Charlotte Moorman (1933-1991) was a classically trained cellist who rose to fame in the 1960s as a performance artist, usually in collaboration with such avant-garde artists as John Cage, Carolee Schneeman, and Nam June Paik. Her archive resides at the NU Library, and she will be the subject of a Block Museum exhibition opening in January 2016. The essays in the exhibition catalog explore various aspects of her artistic endeavors and legacy, illuminating a particularly rich moment in the history of the American avant-garde.
