An introduction to the psychology of sport. It assumes no prior psychological knowledge and places psychology in the real-life context of sport. Its approach is to look at particular applications and to relate them back to psychological theory. Topics include types of skills, learning, motivation, arousal and stress and gender in sport. This is one of a series aimed specifically at A Level students and first-year undergraduates. The series was developed for the Oxford and Cambridge A Level syllabus, but is also suitable for AEB and NEAB Psychology A Level. The authors are all experienced psychologists and writers. The main aim of the series is to introduce students new to the discipline of psychology to the ways in which psychological theory and research can be applied to everyday life.
