This manual has been revised and modernized. It includes a chapter on plant analysis criteria for plantation forest species. It has been designed to provide an accessible account of the use of plant analysis to diagnose disorders in mineral nutrition, to assess the effectiveness of fertilizer programmes, and to monitor longer term changes in nutritional status. The book includes tables of interpretation criteria for 294 species, and all the tables been revised from published Australian and overseas sources for field crops, pastures, vegetables, ornamentals, fruit, vine, nut crops and forest species. Interpretation guidelines for Australian conditions are listed separately. The information is presented in such a way that a proper sample can be obtained to provide easily interpreted analytical results. The reader is directed through the steps involved in the sampling and interpretation of results. An entire chapter is devoted to the identification of nutrient deficiency and toxicity symptoms. The various uses of plant analysis are discussed in detail.
